A Very Happy Birthday my Dearest “Jane” Sister!
As the world comes together to celebrate the 90th birthday of Dame Dr. Jane Goodall, it is not just a commemoration of years lived, but a tribute to a life dedicated to the preservation of our planet and its diverse inhabitants. To me, she is not only a global icon and a pioneering scientist, but more importantly, I am honored to have her as a sister, a living saint whose profound impact has resonated with me for over two and half decades. From the moment I first encountered her, her wisdom, dedication, and compassion have left an indelible mark deeply etched on my soul.
Over the span of 20 to nearly 25 years, I have had the privilege of looking up to Jane Goodall as a guiding light, an inspiration that has shaped my perspective on life and our role as stewards of the Earth. The honor of calling her my dear sister is not just a title, but a reflection of the deep bond that forms when one is touched by the selflessness and grace that radiate from her being.
Dr. Jane Goodall's legacy is woven into the very fabric of conservation history. Beyond her groundbreaking research on chimpanzees, she has redefined the contours of species conservation, recognizing that the intricate web of life extends beyond individual species to encompass the well-being of local communities and the delicate balance of ecosystems. Her holistic approach has illuminated the interconnectedness of all living things, emphasizing that protecting our environment is inseparable from ensuring the welfare of the people who inhabit it.
The day we first met, in the vibrant city of San Francisco during The State of The World Forum, remains etched in my memory. While dignitaries and world leaders convened within the walls, Jane Goodall and I found ourselves seated on the steps outside the Fairmont Hotel and Grace Cathedral, immersed for hours and engaged in a dialogue that transcended the grandeur of the event. As we discussed the challenges that confront our world, her words carried the weight of experience and unwavering determination with a youthful vigor.
Dr. Jane Goodall's impact extends far beyond her words. She has ignited a global movement, inspiring individuals of all walks of life to take action and make a positive change. Her advocacy for environmental conservation, education, and the power of empathy has sown the seeds of transformation in countless hearts and minds. Her passion for Roots and Shoots is now impacting the world and empowering youth across the globe.
As we celebrate her 90th birthday, let us reflect on the profound legacy of Dr. Jane Goodall. Her life's work serves as a beacon of hope in an increasingly complex world, reminding us of the urgent need to protect and preserve our planet for future generations. Her journey exemplifies the profound impact that one person can have when driven by passion, purpose, and an unyielding commitment to a better world.
In honoring Jane Goodall on this milestone occasion, I join countless others in expressing deep gratitude for her contributions. She is not just a sister and an inspiration; she is a living Saint, a testament to the potential of humanity to create positive change. As we celebrate her 90 years of life, may we be inspired to continue her legacy of compassion, conservation, and hope.
Wish you the very best for the next decade my dear Sister. The words that come to my mind aptly express my sentiments of where I see you currently!
